Hrvatski Telekom offers LTE in four cities

Posted on April 26, 2012 |

Hrvatski Telekom subscribers in the cities of Zagreb, Rijeka, Osijek and Split can now enjoy ultra high-speed 4G/LTE mobile broadband with data speeds ten times faster than 3G. Nokia Siemens Networks has provided the radio access network and related services for the operator’s 4G services. The operator is the first to launch commercial LTE services in Croatia. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks is modernizing and expanding Hrvatski Telekom’s nationwide GSM and 3G networks. Hrvatski Telekom says it is the first operator in Croatia to begin selling the new LTE data tariffs with revolutionary speed data transfer to private and business customers. There are two data rates, Extreme Mobile net L which includes 3 GB of data traffic for HRK 175 per month and Extreme Mobile net XL which includes 20 GB of data traffic for HRK 250 per month. During the promotional period, until 1 October, customers can use unlimited surfing on both Extreme Mobile net tariffs. Nokia Siemens Networks is providing its Single RAN (radio access network) platform based on its Flexi Multiradio Base Station. Single RAN enables Hrvatski Telekom to efficiently provide GSM, 3G and LTE to its customers. The fast introduction of LTE services is enabled by using the 1800 MHz GSM band already available to the operator. The use of the 900MHz band is extended for GSM, and also for 3G coverage expansion in rural areas. In addition to offering new 4G services and improving the quality of GSM and 3G services, the modernization will allow the operator to reduce the overall energy consumption of its network.
