Wind launches new plan for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Wind, Italian mobile operator has introduced “Internet Plus” a new plan for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The offer is available for the business customers. The plan costs EUR 25 per month and it provides browsing at up to 14.4 Mbps for the first 5 GB per month. Above the threshold, the speed drops to 32 Kbps. A 24-month subscription contract is required, which includes an initial payment of EUR 144 for the tablet. Similar offers are available with the Huawei Mediapad and notebooks from Samsung and Acer.

AT&T to offer Samsung Rugby Smart

Starting March 4th, AT&T will begin selling the Samsung Rugby Smart.  The SmartPhone will be available in company-owned retail stores and online. It will be sold for USD 99.99 with a two-year commitment and monthly minimum data plan. The Samsung Rugby Smart is a rugged, dustproof device designed to handle the elements with water resistance and built to mil-std 810f military spec standards. The Android 2.3 SmartPhone features a 3.7-inch WVGA Super Amoled touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel rear facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front facing camera with HD video recording. It also supports LTE service, Wi-Fi, corporate e-mail and the full line of media including location, music and social networking services. It supports GSM, EDGE, UMTS, HSPA+ technologies,­ supports up to 32GB via microSD external memory and 4GB internal memory.

Telus launches LTE services

Telus, Canadian mobile operator has announced LTE services. The network is primarily available in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, Kitchener, Waterloo, Hamilton, Guelph, Belleville, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax and Yellowknife­. The company says that the coverage will reach 25 million people by the end of the year. Customers can access the high-speed network by buying the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE tablet, the LG Optimus LTE smartphone or the Novatel Ovation MC679 4G LTE Mobile Internet Key, available in Telus stores and online. The LTE-capable Samsung Galaxy Note will also be available from 14 February. Access will cost the same as on the 3G network, with no new rate plans or charges. Huawei is providing the radio access network for Telus and attended a launch ceremony with the operator and Canadian prime minister. Huawei also delivered the RAN for the LTE network recently launched by Bell Canada.

TIM launches special offers for Valentine’s Day

TIM, Italian mobile operator ­has announced a number of offers for Valentine’s Day. These offers include discounts for tablets, mobile phones and internet dongles. The TIM x 2 option, which offers unlimited calls to a TIM number, now costs EUR 1 per week with no activation fee. The Internet Pack 40, for a cost of EUR 99 (instead of EUR 162), comes with an internet dongle and 40 hours of browsing per month for a year. Internet Pack Without Limits costs EUR 179 (instead of EUR 199) and includes a HSPA dongle (at up to 7.2 Mbps download), one year of unlimited browsing and a TIM card with EUR 5 of traffic included. TIM is also making available a selection of mobile phones at discounted prices, including the Samsung Galaxy Ace for EUR 179 (instead of EUR 299), LG Optimus Black for EUR 199 (instead of EUR 399), HTC Desire S for EUR 259 (instead of EUR 499) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 for EUR 429 (instead of EUR 499).

Poste Mobile introduces new data plan for SmartPhones and tablets.

Italian MVNO Poste Mobile has launched a new internet offer for smartphones and tablets called ‘Mobile 1 Giga New’ .The offer provides users 1 GB of data transfer per month at the maximum connection speed of 7.2 Mbps within Italy and costs EUR 4.50 per month. If the traffic threshold is exceed­ed, the rate for additional MB costs EUR 0.50.
